CASE STUDY – Hovis Section 1

Hovis are a very well known bakery brand in the UK with a heritage that dates back to 1886.

We were the agency of choice to both design and develop the new Hovis website. Monochrome took the lead in conceptualising a look and feel that would influence a major TV advertising and marketing campaign.

WEBSITES – Umbraco

Umbraco

Monochrome’s ASP.NET team is hugely experienced with the Umbraco CMS platform

Umbraco is an open source content management system (CMS) and is based on the Microsoft ASP.NET web platform. If you’re looking for a powerful and highly customisable CMS solution, then Umbraco could be the platform for you.

And, because it’s open source, there’s no license fee.

Unlike Kentico it provides more of a ‘blank canvas’ approach and provides very little as standard in terms of functionality other than the ability to create and manage content.

WEBSITES – Process

Our Process

Discover

Our team spend a great deal of time getting to know your business, taking into account your long term digital strategy and collaboratively refining your requirements. We like to dig deep, but we know from experience that the more time invested in this stage of a project, the better the outcome. We will set stringent measures of success and KPI’s, making everyone fully aware of not only what needs to be done, but what your website ultimately has to achieve.

Design

Our creative team will always push for the best possible user experience. They start out old school, thinking big and sketching ideas with paper and pencil. Wireframes come next, defining the content, layout, calls-to-action and more of each page. A prototype at this stage helps bring the site to life and give a feel for how the user experience will come together.

Then our designers work their magic, turning wireframes into beautiful designs (while always following approved concept, brand guidelines and any other design considerations). They work collaboratively with developers to ensure the designs they hand over not only look great, but work perfectly too.

Develop

Development means bringing together the best UX with the most advanced technology. Our skilled frontend team build site templates using the most up-to-date techniques, producing a modern, rewarding interface.

With backend the priority is for easy management. We will work with you to identify the CMS that is right for you and your business. There are many CMS options that we can deliver but our team will usually recommend Kentico or Umbraco depending on your needs.

We pride ourselves on the quality of our aftercare support so you can be assured that we will be with you every step of the way.

SERVICENOW – Process

Our Process

ServiceNow Professional Services uses a StartNow methodology that combines traditional waterfall and Scrum approaches to manage implementation projects. In line with StartNow practices, the delivery of our projects are generally broken down into three distinct phases:

1) Discover

The first phase uses workshops to develop a backlog of user stories and acceptance criteria, to define project scope. We agree a technical solution and technical design, and plan the sprints for the duration of the project. Finally early portal design mockups and UX prototypes are produced reflecting your brand.

2) Implement

Managed by a SCRUM Master (Project Manager) this phase involves sprint driven UX and development to deliver an alpha release. This includes full UX and design, development, platform configuration, acceptance criteria of developed user stories and testing.

3) Iterate

Final phase to test, QA and improve the solution until a release candidate is ready.

ABOUT US – Intro 2

We’re proud, passionate geeks!

Over two decades the technology has changed, but our passion remains. Today we continue to drive innovative projects that produce revolutionary products. We believe that coupling a brilliant UX and creative team with highly skilled developers creates perfect balance: we know what your users like and we know how to make it work.

We have three core and complementary offerings – websites, apps and ServiceNow portals. A specialist team runs each, but there are no silos. Our teams talk, interact, and learn from each other. They drink a lot of coffee.

Most importantly, we offer honest communication. We’ll explain in the most transparent way what we can bring to our partnership, and what that can do for your business.
And it really is a partnership. We call ourselves a studio, not an agency, because we work as an extension of your team. We won’t bombard you with acronyms or buzzwords, or hide behind obscure technology. Instead, we’ll give it to you in black and white.

That’s because we’re Monochrome…
